Welcome to Rothienorman Primary School and Nursery

The Village of Rothienorman is settled in an attractive rural location eleven miles north-west of Inverurie and 12 miles south west of Turriff.

Rothienorman Primary School has six classes, made up of a number of composite classes, in the main school. Our classrooms are spacious and bright, we also make use of a general purpose room and our ‘Den’, that is used as our nurture class. We are supported by two full time and 2 part time Pupil Support Assistants (PSA), a part time ASL Teacher and two part time administrators.  We do not have visiting specialist teachers but instead we have part time members of staff who deliver specialism subjects to other classes. The school works closely with a range of other support agencies and volunteers to provide the best possible experience for children with additional support needs. Rothienorman School is part of the Meldrum Community Schools’ Network and works closely with the other 12 schools in the Network. More information on the school’s staff can be found in the ‘Our School’ tab.

Our Nursery offer Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) to a maximum of 24 children per session, parents may access up to 1140 hours of childcare through a max of 6 sessions per week. Your sessions can be made up of full or half days. The nursery offers ELC between 8am and 6pm, either 8am-6pm, 8am-1pm or 1pm-6pm.

The nursery is led by an Early Years Senior Practitioner and an Early Years Lead Practitioner  along with 4 Early Years Practitioners.

Our nursery comprises a small quiet room and a large playroom with attached bathroom and free flow door to secure outdoor area. The nursery also goes off site to the community fairy garden on a regular basis.

HMIe last inspected the school in November 2011 and our Nursery in May 2023. We have an active Parent Partnership Group (PPG) which organises a variety of social and fundraising events throughout the year to support our resources and experiences in school.
